Your First Visit

Know exactly
what to expect.

Your first appointment is unhurried and easy. In about 75 minutes, a Doctor of Audiology learns your history, tests your hearing carefully, and explains what is going on in plain language, with no pressure to buy anything.

Most people put off a hearing test for years, often because they imagine something clinical and cold. Ours is the opposite: a conversation first, careful testing second, and an honest plan built around your life, never a sales quota.

Your Visit, Step by Step
Three Simple Stages

Relaxed, thorough,
and clear.

From the moment you sit down to the moment you leave with a plan, here is how the appointment unfolds.

01

We Listen First

We start with a conversation about your concerns, your health history, and the everyday moments where hearing is hardest, so the testing is guided by your real life.

02

Comprehensive Testing

A complete diagnostic evaluation: pure-tone, speech, and middle-ear testing in a quiet booth. It is painless, comfortable, and usually takes about thirty minutes.

03

Results, Explained

We review your audiogram with you the same day, in plain language, and build a plan around your goals. If hearing aids are not needed yet, we will tell you.

Come Prepared
A Short Checklist

What to bring
with you.

None of this is required, but each one helps us give you a more complete picture on day one.

01 · Coverage

Your Insurance Card

We verify your hearing benefits before you arrive. Bring your card so we can confirm the details and answer any cost questions on the spot.

02 · Support

A Family Member

A spouse, adult child, or close friend who knows your hearing struggles is always welcome, and often remembers details that matter.

03 · History

Current Devices & Records

Any hearing aids you own now, even older pairs, plus prior hearing tests if you have them. It helps us see how things have changed.

04 · Context

Your Real Life

Think about the moments hearing is hardest: noisy restaurants, group meetings, the phone, the television. Those stories shape your plan.

Common Questions

Before you
come in.

How long does the first visit take?

Plan for about 75 minutes. That includes time to talk through your history, complete a full diagnostic hearing evaluation, and review your results together, all without feeling rushed.

Is the hearing test uncomfortable?

Not at all. The evaluation is completely painless. You will listen to tones and words through soft earphones and respond when you hear them; nothing invasive is involved.

Will I walk out with hearing aids the same day?

The first visit is about understanding your hearing. If devices make sense, we will discuss options and, in many cases, let you hear a demonstration. Custom fittings are then scheduled once we have your results.

Do I have to buy anything?

No. There is never pressure to purchase. If your hearing is healthy, we will happily tell you so and send you on your way with peace of mind.

Should I bring someone with me?

Yes, if you would like. A family member or friend who knows your hearing challenges is welcome, and a familiar voice can be helpful during the speech portion of testing.

What will it cost?

It depends on your insurance. We verify your benefits before your appointment and explain any out-of-pocket cost in advance, so you always know what to expect.
